Children at Moorland Primary School rolled out the wheelbarrows for a spot of outdoor work this spring.
Year three pupils headed out to a local field in Beanhill and w orked hard to transform an area of the green space.
The project was supported by Woughton Community Council and saw the pupils pull on their gardening gloves to build a mulch and woodchip path, edged with salvaged tree branches.
The work took a whole day and was part of the school’s Wellbeing Wednesday programme of events.
The day out gave the pupils an opportunity to plant raised beds, all with the aim of creating an accessible community garden for nearby families and organisations.
Year three teacher Miss Gargan said: “This was such a great project, in partnership with Woughton Community Council and we all had a brilliant day. The children learnt lots about how to plant flowers and why community spaces are important. It was also good for their wellbeing to be outdoors.
“The pupils were really proud of the end results, which was great to see.”
